Transport of the Future

Railways have unique advantages as a high capacity means of transport, particularly suited for large and/or medium fluxes over long distances, both in terms of passenger traffic as well for transporting goods.

Since the transport sector is together responsible for around 25% of global CO2 emissions, the rail network is a mode of transport that can contribute the most towards reversing this situation, since it is the most sustainable and eco-friendly means of mobility, in addition to having a more efficient performance in terms of energy consumption.

Fast, economical, comfortable and safe, open to innovation and taking decisive steps to improve its competitiveness with the introduction of high-speed services, railways are already – and will increasingly be – a viable alternative to the congestion witnessed in the road and air transport sector.
