| Mission |
The Operations Directorate is the division of REFER responsible for operational management of the use of the rail infrastructure.
It operates on a customer/supplier basis with its upstream partners being the other technical departments of the company and its downstream partner being the transport market, in particular the rail operators.
The mission of the Operations Directorate can be summarised as:
- Management of operators’ train movements in real time to high standards of safety, efficiency and quality;
- Management of infrastructure capacity;
- Drafting of regulations governing train movements;
- Management of commercial contracts with the rail operators and other customers.
